Employer Branding – What’s the Point?

We’re living in the age of constant fact-checking. Anyone anywhere can check and rate your company on social media.  Do you value your employees? Do they enjoy their work? Are they willing to appear on Facebook or LinkedIn posts? Do they endorse your actions and initiatives? If yes, then you’re doing a great job! Keep it up. If not, then maybe you have something to think about. Your employees’ happiness equals great opinion among candidates. That means top-tier candidates will more likely work for you. That’s why it’s so important to take good care of your Employer Branding.

What exactly is Employer Branding?

In one sentence – It’s the reputation of the company among your employees and job seekers. It’s a kind of inner marketing that is very important in the era of social media and the internet. Not taking care of your credibility as an employer might take a huge toll on you as people will avoid your company, and you won’t get the very top-tier candidates. To do EB well you need to have clear EVP.

Employee value proposition

EVP is a set of associations and offerings provided by an organization in return for the skills, capabilities, and experiences an employee brings to the organization or in other, much simpler words EVP is the reason why a candidate should work for you. Those are the values, aspirations, and the reason behind your company, and its culture. Only in the situation when the EVP of an organization and potential employee matches we’ll have a motivated and committed staff member.

The common error

EVP is an often misunderstood term. It’s not the possibility to work in a young and aspiring team nor a food card, a game room, a pool table, etc. No. It’s something a lot deeper. That may be the company’s policy on ecology or what they’re doing for the local community. To sum it up. EVP it’s the identity, the profile, and the image of the company. The identity is what the company truly is. The profile is what the company would like to be. The image is how the company is perceived by people.

Why Is Employer Branding Important?

Let’s get some statistics. Firstly. Did you know that a staggering 75% of active job seekers are more likely to apply to a job if you actively do employer branding? Or that 89% of Glassdoor users find the employer’s perspective on what it’s like to work at the company important? As you can see not only you should take care of your employees, but you should be proud of it. You should share it, and show it to the world. Thanks to your actions you’ll be able to save a lot of money and time on recruitment! Which can be a difficult subject itself (read our latest article about it).
